Privacy Policy
AetherForge ("we", "us") is a browser game at aetherforge.art that turns a photo into a fantasy trading card and lets you duel with it. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
If you play without an account
- A device token stored in your browser, so your gem balance and settings survive a reload. It identifies the browser, not you.
- Your cards and decks, stored in your browser's own storage. We do not have a copy — which also means we cannot restore them if that storage is cleared. That is the reason we keep asking you to create an account.
- Your IP address, used only to limit abuse (for example, how many free starter wallets one connection can create) and kept in memory, not in a database.
If you create an account
- Username, email address and a password hash. We never store your password itself. Your email is used to confirm the account, reset a password, and contact you about a purchase, a report, or a change to these terms. We do not send marketing email.
- Your collection — every card you forge, including its artwork, and your decks — stored on our server so a wiped browser costs you nothing.
- Your gem balance, purchases, trades, auction bids and market listings, so that ownership of cards can be enforced and disputes can be settled.
- Posts you make in Community, shown to other players under your username.
- Advertising campaigns and ad credit, if you advertise with us.
The photo you upload
When you forge a card with AI artwork, the photo you choose and the description you write are sent to a third-party image-generation service to produce the artwork, and the result is checked by an automated content classifier. The photo is not stored by us; the finished artwork is. Please do not upload photos of other people without their permission, and do not upload photos of children.
Payments
Purchases are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of what was bought, when, and for which account, because that is what lets us help you if something goes wrong.
Advertising
Players can choose to watch a short sponsored message in exchange for gems. We record that an ad was shown and whether it was clicked, so advertisers can be billed fairly. We do not share your identity with advertisers, and we do not use tracking cookies or third-party ad networks.
Who can see what
- Your username is visible to other players in duels, Community, the Market and on cards you choose to share.
- Your email address is never shown to other players.
- A card you share becomes a public page with its image, name and your username. You can ask us to take it down at any time.
Where it lives and how long
Our servers are hosted by Linode (Akamai) in the United States. Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Nightly backups are kept for 30 days. Device wallets that have never been used are pruned periodically.
Your choices
- You can play without an account at all.
- You can export your collection from the Collection page at any time.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Use the contact form under ⚙ Settings, or write to us at the address below, and it will be done within 30 days. Cards you sold or traded to other players stay with them.
- You can report any card, player or post from the ⚑ button next to it.
Age
AetherForge is for players aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please get a parent's permission before buying gems or advertising. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, players with accounts will be told by email before it takes effect.
Contact
Questions, deletion requests, or anything else: use the contact form under ⚙ Settings in the game, or email support@aetherforge.art.
